Wanted! Applicants for Zoning Board of Appeals

The Village of Maple Park has a Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA), that consists of seven (7) members that serve staggered five (5) year terms.  The ZBA is responsible for hearing an appeal of any decision, order or interpretation by a Village official enforcing the Village’s Zoning Ordinance*.  A majority of the previous members of the community are no longer able to serve on the ZBA and we have six (6) vacancies that need to be filled.  In order to establish a quorum and conduct business, the ZBA needs a minimum of four (4) members in order to hold a meeting.

ZBA meetings are on an as-needed basis so no need to worry about a large monthly time commitment. If you’re concerned that five (5) years is a long-time commitment and aren’t sure you want to participate, the Village Board will be considering the consolidation of Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals into one (1) commission, so the appointment to the ZBA may be just temporary.

If you’re interested in learning more about how zoning is used in the Village and in helping out your fellow residents, please complete a Zoning Board of Appeals Vacancy Application and submit it to the Village Clerk, villageclerk@villageofmaplepark.com, by Sunday, March 28, 2021.  The Village Board would like to make the appointments at the April 6, 2021 Village Board Meeting.
