The Village of Maple Park is seeking a professional, organized and efficient individual to perform multifaceted administrative support as the Part-Time Village Clerk. Under the direction of the Village Administrator, this position works closely with the Village Accountant/Village Treasurer and the Village Board, Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals. This position is responsible for preparation of meeting agendas, packets, minutes and posts public notices. The position also provides service to residents, contractors and others that visit the Village’s front counter and over the telephone. This position is responsible for general office duties, including water bill acceptance, vehicle sticker processing, updating the Village web site and posts to social media, coordination of room/facility rentals, assists the Public Works Director/Building Inspector with the building permit process and other duties as assigned.
This responsible position is the first point of contact for anyone that contacts the Village or visits the Village office. The position requires the exercise of considerable poise and discretion, the ability to multi-task and strong communications skills. This position serves as the Village’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Officer and must annually complete Open Meetings Act training. The position also receives all candidate nominating papers and certifies names of candidates to be printed on the ballot, assists the Village President with tobacco, alcohol and gaming licenses.
The successful candidate must have a good knowledge of basic office procedures, including working a calculator, computer and telephones; experience working with Word, Excel, PowerPoint; ability to work in a team environment; must be able to maintain regular and predictable attendance; must be able to attend Village Board (first Tuesday evening), Committee of the Whole (third Tuesday evening), Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals Meetings (evening meetings as needed.) Further, this position must provide excellent customer service, perform accurate work and have problem-solving skills.

- High school diploma required, prefer Associates Degree
- One (1) to three (3) years of experience in municipal government extremely helpful
- Municipal Clerk certification preferred
- Notary Public a plus
- Must be able to pass a background check, drug and alcohol screen and have a valid Illinois Driver’s License.
Salary and Benefits:
The hourly rate for this position is $18.28. Hours are: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Fridays from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 Noon; first and third Tuesdays of the month from 3:00 p.m. – through the end of the Village Board Meeting of Committee of the Whole Meeting. All other Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 a.m. Maximum of 30 hours per week.
